There are over 7,000 waiting for a transplant in the UK with only around 2,500 kidney transplants being performed every year because of the lack of organ donors.

There is an urgent need to go into to the community and raise awareness on organ donation. We have developed resources which are culturally identifiable to ensure that access to information is not a barrier for anyone wishing to become a living kidney donor or wanting to know more about living kidney donation.

Gift of Living Donation shows on request the screening of their film We Are to raise awareness in:

  • Schools
  • Colleges/ universities
  • Dialysis centres
  • Places of worship
  • Local independent cinemas
  • Community centres
  • Libraries

If you are interested in hosting a screening of We Are Family please use the contact form.

Our Mission: Our mission is to get More Than a Match and We Are Family into every home and family where someone is living with kidney failure.

Why: Because there are too many people living with kidney failure that are receiving dialysis treatment for years whilst waiting for a transplant, this need not be the case. Gift of Living Donation believes if more people were aware of the benefits of organ donation they would come forward as living donors for a family member or sign up to the organ donor register.

About The Author

People living with kidney failure often struggle to have that difficult conversation about living kidney donation with their family or friends. Our resources allow them to approach and discuss the subject in a familiar setting with family or friends who know little about organ donation or never would have considered being donors, this could potentially:

  • Give them a better quality of life.
  • Freedom from dialysis
  • Have someone come forward as a living donor.
  • Save their life.

Gift of living Donation is working in collaboration with different Boroughs in the country to start a debate to generate a community interest in organ donation. This collaboration will hopefully make a difference and encourage more people to sign up to the organ donor register.
